Wednesday, March 09, 2011 -  New classes coming up

What a busy week I have had, well the last few anyway. Just attended the Millionaire Mind Intensive and I am fired up for a new beginning shaping my financial future. I hope that I can help you shape the future with your dog through some of the many classes I have available here at Cutting Edge K9. New classes in Rally and Scent Games 101 will be starting a couple weeks. Rally will now be on Mondays at 7:00 PM after puppy kindergarten. Scent Games 101 has been very popular and I recommend this to anyone who wants to have a fun game to do with your dog anywhere you go. A new Rally class will start on March 21st at 7 PM, Obedience classes are Wednesday nights at 6 PM, Scent Games 101 will start a new class on March 25th at 6 PM. If you have any questions about these classes or any other training problems call me at 307-477 DOGS and I would be happy to help you pick the right class for you and your dog.

Friday, February 04, 2011 -  Web site update

Well I just updated the site some to include a few new services offered here at CEK9. Now offering board and train. Your dog will become part of my family and get training all at the same time. For those busy dog owners that would like to come back from vacation or a business trip and have some training for their dog, this is for you. Call for additional details and information. I just completed the first Scent Games class and those dogs are moving onto Scent Games 102 for more fun training in this easy dog sport. Your dog gets to use its nose to find something they really like “food”. We further train this into an easy to follow aspect so you and your dog can have so much doing this on your own. I only have 2 spots left for the next class starting Feb 11th. Call soon to reserve that spot for you.

Sunday, January 30, 2011 -  Get ready for spring

While it’s the end January actual spring weather is just around the corner. Give your dog a good start to the spring weather by attending an obedience class to polish up on what you both know. This fun class with many different types of dogs is held inside at the Cutting Edge K9 training facility. Come join the fun and meet some new dogs and friends. For those of you who jog with your dog remember your dog needs to warm up some before you really get moving. Be aware of the signs your dog is getting tired if you are just starting this type of exercise. The dogs ears will be flat to the head, tail down, and lagging behind will be good indicators that you need to head back home and have some water and rest before your next run. Above all else have fun with your dog.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 -  1/11/11 what a cool date!

With the start of Introduction to Rally and Scent Games 101 last week I am getting ready for week two. There are some awesome dogs in these classes and I am going to have to think up some challenging things for class this week. If you want your dog to join in these fun classes give CEK9 a call (477-3647) and I will put you on the list for the next available class. Come join the fun!

Wednesday, January 05, 2011 -  Jan 5th 2011

Getting all geared up here for tonight’s obedience class, rally on Thursday, and scent games 101 on Friday. There are a few spots left for Fridays scent games 101. It will be a fun class for both dog and their owners. How many people out there got new puppies or rescued dogs for Christmas? I offer several different types of classes and lessons for all dogs and of any age. Give me a call and we can get you on your way to a fun and fulfilling life with your dog. With these cold temperatures don’t leave the dogs outside to long exposed to the frigid wind chills.

Friday, December 24, 2010 -  Merry Christmas

Here it is Christmas Eve. I wonder how all the dogs out there are taking in this special night. Mine are all sleeping here on the floor around the living room. I hope I am as good to them as they make me feel. I am wondering how many out there are getting new puppies this Christmas. Those new puppies are so much fun, lots of fun new things to discover. Maybe you’re not getting a new puppy then maybe a rescue from one of the many shelters in the area to bring into your home. It doesn’t matter whether you currently have dogs, getting a puppy, or a shelter dog love them with everything you have.
Merry Christmas to everyone.

Wednesday, December 22, 2010 -  Upcoming classes this year

Cutting Edge K9 has some fun classes coming up after the first of the New Year. On Thursdays there is the introduction to Rally. This is the most fun you can have with your dog. It’s a fun competitive sport where you can actively talk your dog dog through the course having a lot of fun. Come enjoy the class and expand the basic obedience training your dog has to new heights.
The other new class being offered is Scent Games 101. This will give your dog a lot of confidence and desire to please. We hone the natural hunt instinct for food and then transfer it to a few common scents we all have. We will use Anise, Vanilla, and Clove as the desired scents for these new found scent dogs to find. This is fun and will bring focus and confidence to your dog.
We still have obedience on Wednesday nights, for those needing some polishing of their canine skills and meeting new dogs all at the same time.
Classes are filling up fast so please call soon to reserve your spot. Looking forward to seeing new dogs and owners with the coming New Year.

Thursday, September 16, 2010 -  What's your perspective

I am sure we all have a view or perspective we see everything with. The perspective of yours that I am interested in is how you view dog training. Should it be regimented, strict, time consuming, and consistent? Well I don’t know about you, but here at Cutting Edge K9 we feel that training your dog should be regimented in a way that you have a plan of action to get you to your goal of a well behaved dog. Strict is not an accurate word to describe your journey to making your dog like training, let’s use reliable. I am sure you want to have a reliable recall for your dog. Time consuming is really the moments you seek out to training your dog. One of the best words there is consistent, it keeps you and your dog focused throughout the training journey. I view training as a plan of action, reliable, seizing the moment, and consistently achieving the well mannered dog you want to have. Most of all you need to have FUN. If you’re having FUN and your dog is responding then you have the right perspective. If you want this perspective give Cutting Edge a call and let us help you put training into perspective for you and your dog. Can’t wait to meet you and your dog!

Wednesday, August 04, 2010 -  Been Gone so Long. . . .

Well let me start off by saying sorry it’s been such a long time since I have posted here. I tell you I have been so busy, well ok lazy to certain point. I promise to not take so long to blog here again. One of the things I did for a few days was attend an advanced air scent seminar up near Cody Wyoming with Cassie my search dog. Wow what a fun time! They really set up some challenging problems for us up there and Cassie did very well. Recently got a new Akita puppy for the wife also. Her name is River and she is about 13 weeks old. She is going to be fun to train once we get past the whole spastic puppy stage. She is very cute and I will try to get some pictures of her on the web site soon. As summer is dying down and your getting the kids ready for school don’t forget about going back to school with your dog. This is a great time to get some training started or even brush up on what you have been doing right. I have drop in classes on Wednesday and Thursday nights now. Cost is $65.00 for the first 5 week session and then $50.00 for a 5 week punch ticket. The great thing about this class is you can miss a week or two and never be behind. So this is great for those of you that are busy and have a million things going on, just make one of those things training for your dog. Give me a call and I can get you signed up and started. Looking forward to meeting you and your dog!

Thursday, June 17, 2010 -  visit to Pet Pals

I drove up to Pet Pal's near Hawk Springs to see their operation and visit with Linda York the founder. It's an awesome place to find your next dog or cat. They have the perfect pet for you there, I highly recomend that be your only place to get a dog for your family. Linda spends ALL day working with these dogs on training and polite behaviors and it shows. Their web site is www.petpalsinc.org there are several types and sizes of dogs to fit any home. One of my favorites was Fanny. She would be a perfect dog for anyone. Then there was little Twitter, If I had a coat I would have put him in my pocket and stole him, LOL. If your looking for a dog or cat please give Linda a call and set up an appointment to visit her operation. I will be going back soon to help for the day and work with some of the great dogs there.

Monday, June 14, 2010 -  Monday night obedience class

Well tonight’s obedience class was really good. Those that attended went away with some new skills for both them and their awesome dogs. Tonight the dogs learned how to relax and that’s very key to dealing with distractions and chaos. So if your dogs need a little extra help dealing with distractions give me a call and I would be glad to get you scheduled for a class.

Saturday, June 12, 2010 -  New store up and running

Hello all, Well my goal of the last few years to have a store to operate out of has come true. The new store is located at 3151 Nation Way Suite K-9. In order to get the K-9 designation I had them re-number the units so I could have the K-9 suite. Well not really, but it sounds good. I am looking forward to all the new customers and my past customers who will stop by. The Grand Opening was a great success with past and new clients stopping by. So when it stops raining give me a call for your behavior and obedience needs with your dog. I am looking forward to meeting you.

Monday, April 05, 2010 -  Stuffed toys for dogs

If your dogs are like mine they love stuffed toys and strive to de-squeak them as soon as they hit the floor. Although stuffed toys for canines can be both expensive and cheap there is a difference between toys you buy for dogs and the ones you might buy for your kids. Even though both may look similar there is a difference inside. The stuffed toys for kids have a different kind of stuffing inside them. That stuffing is flame resistant and there is a product in there for mite control as well. These if ingested by a dog are fatal. The flame resistant material gel's inside the canine’s stomach and turns toxic killing the stomach and small intestines. There is no surgery or fix for this. So please don’t give your dog’s stuffed toys for children. If you have kids and they like their stuffed toys please monitor your dog and teach them the difference between the dogs' toys and other toys you don’t want them to chew on. I hope no one ever experiences the tragic difference between stuffed toys for dogs and kids. Thank you and take care of your dog. If you need help with this and other behaviors please give me a call I will be glad to help you out fixing those behaviors.
